The consumption of alcohol, for many Americans, is both an enjoyable pastime and a destructive activity. It has caused a multitude of deaths and alcoholism is a crippling disease that will drink up your bank account. Walking down the streets of Baltimore one can find many empty and smashed bottles littering the sidewalks, alleys, and stoops. My message that I have sent to Portland, Oregon is a mixed one. Portland has a proud history of brewing and drinking an assortment of fine beverages. In addition its streets, by and large, are clean and “green”. My hope is that the people of Portland will view my message and remember nights that they themselves have spent naked in a bathtub looking for happiness in the bottom of a bottle of booze. Maybe then they will think twice about what their “proud tradition” has done not only to themselves, but also to an entire community of hopeless alcoholics.
